Dr. Schuler is a retired orthopedic surgeon who now specializes in Crew Resource Management education and program development. Dr. Schuler has served as the Director of Safer Healthcare’s training and educational services since 2004. Dr. Schuler has conducted grand rounds, integrated staff and physician training as well as executive leadership sessions at leading healthcare institutions including:
- Mayo Clinic
- Memorial Sloan-Kettering
- Jackson Memorial Health System
- Memorial Health System
- St Joseph Health System
- Trinity Healthcare
- Adventist HealthCare
- HealthOne Hospitals
In addition to training, he has delivered keynote addresses on patient safety at national conferences and organizational meetings.
Dr. Schuler has served in various leadership roles including President of the Medical Staff as and Chairman for Continuous Quality Improvement during his tenure. As a private pilot, Dr. Schuler is uniquely qualified to address the overlap and intersection of aviation and health care safety levels and threat mitigation. Dr. Schuler possesses the first hand experience needed to address hospital staff and physician issues regarding patient safety and the delivery of care in high risk settings.
